Palencia postmark commemorating the V Centenario

A postmark with Christ Otero Palencia as grounds commemorates the V Centenary of the Birth of St. Teresa of Jesus.

This city is one of the foundations of Santa Teresa. First was in a rented house, in the heart of the populous neighborhood of Puebla, southeast of the city, in the present street Colón. Teresa and her companions they prepared everything for the dawning of the day 29 December 1580, Opening the chapel and the small convent. The priest Porras, chaplain of the Discalced Carmelites in Valladolid, celebrated the first Mass, and was constituted community. Therefore, the bishop asked them to move next to the shrine of Our Lady of the Street, to establish there the community.
